The floor is the largest single surface in any room. It decides how bright the space feels, how quiet it is and how big it looks. We lay vinyl so that all of that comes out right.
01 Surface
Vinyl stopped being a compromise a long time ago. The surfaces carry real texture, the joints are bevelled, and the finishes run from quiet oak to large format stone. Which one suits your room depends on the light, the layout and the furniture. That is why we come and look before anything is ordered.
Two planks meet at an angle and pull the eye down the length of the room. The pattern looks calm and expensive at the same time, but it needs a properly set out centre line and an exact cut at every wall.
Works well in Living rooms, hallways, older properties with tall walls
Long, wide boards running in one direction. The classic choice, because it creates very little visual noise and makes a floor read as larger. The direction usually follows the daylight so the joints do not stand out against the light.
Works well in Large rooms, open plans, new builds
Large format panels in concrete, slate or limestone. Visually close to a tile, but warmer underfoot and quieter. Popular in kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms where a hard tile often feels cold.

Light finishes throw more daylight back into the room and make small or north facing spaces feel open. They sit well against white walls and show dust far less than a very dark surface.

A dark floor grounds a room in the literal sense. It frames light furniture and reads as calm, but it needs enough daylight or the space closes in. In large, bright rooms it is at its strongest.

The finish is chosen together with you from the manufacturer’s range. We hold no stock of our own and sell nothing off the pallet. Four of the five panels above are drawn samples showing the families. Only the herringbone is a photograph of a floor we actually laid.

Two identical packs of vinyl can end up looking completely different. The difference is made on the floor underneath and at the edges. What follows is the order we work in, and what goes wrong when a step gets skipped.
Vinyl needs a sound, clean and sufficiently level subfloor. How level it has to be, and which laying method is allowed, is set by the product you choose. We follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions and tell you at the survey what your subfloor still needs.
First we establish what is actually there: is the surface sound, dry, clean and level enough for the floor you have chosen. Cracks, loose areas and differences in height go on the list before any material is ordered.
Skip this and every unevenness stays visible for good, and with click vinyl it turns into movement in the joint.
The room is measured in full, not estimated. Recesses, heating pipes, door reveals and walls that are out of square all count. That gives us the quantity and, more importantly, where the first row goes.
Skip this and the last row ends as a thin sliver, or the pattern visibly drifts off the centre line.
Pipes, corners, curves and door frames are each fitted individually. With herringbone there is an angled cut at every wall on top of that. Everything is cut to the measurements taken on site, never to a template.
Skip this and ragged edges, visible gaps and patched in pieces that cannot be put right afterwards.
We lay to the manufacturer’s instructions: direction, offset between end joints, the expansion gap at the wall and, where it is specified, letting the material settle in the room before it goes down.
Skip this and joints open up, end joints lift, or the covering pushes up against the wall.
Wall junctions, thresholds and transitions to other floor coverings are closed cleanly. Skirting boards go on last and cover the expansion gap without clamping the floor down.
Skip this and open gaps at the wall, transition strips that rock, and a floor with no room to move.
At the end we walk the whole floor again: end joints, edges, corners, transitions. The site is handed over swept clean, and you look at the result together with us.
Skip this and small things get left and only turn up once the furniture is already in.
03 System
Vinyl comes in two constructions. Which one you get is not decided by the fitter but by the product you choose. It is still worth knowing the difference before you settle on a floor, because it affects the subfloor and the room.
Click
The planks have a locking profile along the edge and snap into one another. The covering floats in the room and is not bonded to the subfloor, so it needs a gap all the way round to move.
Glue
The planks are bonded across their full area to a prepared subfloor. The covering becomes part of the surface, builds up very little height and lies quieter underfoot. In return the subfloor has to be properly prepared and able to take the adhesive.
There is no better and no worse here. Which method is permitted is written in the installation instructions for that particular floor, and the subfloor has to suit it. At the survey we look at your room, read the requirements of the product you have chosen and tell you plainly what will work.
This comparison describes the two constructions that exist in vinyl flooring. It is not a statement about which product will be ordered in your case. What governs that is always the floor you choose and the manufacturer’s specification.
04 Sequence
Four stations, always in the same order. The first three are drawings, because we are not going to show photographs of work in progress that we do not have. The fourth is a real photograph of a finished floor.

We come out, look at the space and measure it. That is when it becomes clear what the subfloor still needs and which way the boards should run. You get an honest assessment before you commit to anything.

The floor is cleaned, checked and levelled wherever the chosen product calls for it. Nothing is laid until the surface is right. This step takes time and it is the one that decides the result.

The centre line is set out, the first row goes down, then the floor runs through. Cuts at walls, pipes and doors are made on site. With herringbone every wall edge is fitted one piece at a time.

05 Our work

06 Area
The business is based in Hückelhoven and works across Kreis Heinsberg and the surrounding area. Short distances are not a side issue on a flooring job: the survey, the delivery and the installation rarely happen on the same day, and if something comes up there is someone nearby.

Flats, houses, new builds and single rooms: the scope of the work follows the property rather than a fixed package. A hallway can be done in a day, a whole flat needs lead time for the subfloor and the material.
If you are renovating anyway, the order of trades matters. The floor normally goes in after the wall work but before the skirting. We go through that with you at the survey so the trades do not work against each other.

We treat your home as if it were our own
Farbenhaft24 Raumgestaltung is the business of Tobias Knopczyk from Hückelhoven. Building projects have been running through it since 2012, from wall surfaces through wallpaper and drylining to floor coverings. Flooring is not a sideline here but one of the two pillars the business stands on.
08 Questions
Five points that come up at almost every survey. Everything else we settle on site, standing on your floor.
Sometimes yes, often not. It depends on how sound and how level the old covering is, how much height is available at the doors, and what the installation instructions for the new floor say about it. We check that at the survey and tell you plainly whether it will work.
Level enough, sound, dry and clean. The exact tolerance is set by the product you choose, and for a glued floor the standard is usually stricter than for one that floats. We measure the surface and tell you whether it needs levelling.
Neither, in general terms. The construction belongs to the product, not to the installation. Click vinyl floats and needs an expansion gap, glue down vinyl is bonded across its full area and builds up less height. What makes sense in your room depends on the subfloor, the door heights and the manufacturer’s requirements.
That comes down to the area, the pattern and above all the subfloor. A hallway is a different job from a flat in herringbone, and a subfloor that has to be levelled needs drying time on top. After the survey you get a realistic timeframe rather than a number you would like to hear.
We hold no stock of our own and sell nothing off the pallet. We pick the finish together with you and tell you what to look at in the wear layer, the format and the installation system. The order is then placed to match the survey.
